Gerald L'Allier Obituary

Jerry was born to Felix and Muriel L’Allier in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 7, 1944. He was their middle child and only son. Jerry has an older sister, Catherine (Cathy) Bourdon and a younger sister Mary Elizabeth (Mary Beth) Twohy. Jerry attended Johnson Senior High School and graduated in 1962. In the fall of that year, he met the love of his life, Ginette (Ginny) Miller at a high school homecoming football game. He attended trade school at St. Paul Vocational and Dunwoody Institute. He studied concrete masonry, estimating and blueprint reading. Jerry and Ginny were married on May 23, 1964 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Jerry started his own concrete construction business in 1973. He was a volunteer firefighter forover twenty years with Maplewood Fire Department Parkside Station. His experiences with Parkside created lasting friendships for Jerry and Ginny and forged a strong connection to their community. Together they raised six strong and family centered children: Daniel (Tabitha), Joseph (Jodie), Jeremy (LuAnn Verduzco), Andrew (Korsha Makor), Benjamin (Terrah) and Melinda (David) Lutz. Together they have 17 amazing grandchildren Amanda (Eric), Makenzie, Mikayla (Jason Bell), Dalton, Dylan, Savanah, Arlo, Alexah, Aesa, Tirfe, Vincent, Emmitt, Gabriel, Amelia, Charlotte, Natalie, and Oliver. They were also blessed with five great grandchildren Iviee, Izzy, Lilly, Ayva and soon to be baby boy Bell. Jerry and Ginny’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always came first in their lives. They raised a very large close-knit family that enjoy immersing themselves in each other’s lives. Never a day goes by without a conversation with each of their children or a family get together. Jerry and Ginny were the first to include everyone in their family circle. This lead to many “surrogate” children (including godchildren and their children’s friends) who sought out Jerry’s fatherly advice. Jerry’s death has left a void in the hearts of all that loved him so deeply. During their fifty-five years of marriage, Jerry and Ginny supported many organizations that were close to their hearts. They were strong supporters of Minnesota Friends of the Orphans (NPH). Through their years of support, they made lifelong friendships and were godparents to several of the children at NPH in Mexico including their godchild, Guadeloupe Bernabe Bustos (Lupe). Currently Lupe is a wife and mother of three children. Jerry and Ginny are still actively involved in in her life in Mexico. They have been members/supporters of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Little Canada since 1969.  Jerry was on the building and grounds committee, helped to build the new school site, served on the St. John’s Men’s Club and was actively involved in the St John’s Home and School Association while their children attended the school.  Once again, Jerry and Ginny established deeply rooted friendships that are still the core of their support circle. The immense love and support that they have received from their friends and family during this journey have been incredible. The love that others have shown to Jerry during his life and death have been a tribute to the life that he led. Jerry is proceeded in death by his parents Felix and Muriel L’Allier and grandchildren Emma, Alec, Daniel, Matthew and his other infant grandchildren that found their wings before their birth.
