Charles Luc LeBon

Charles Luc LeBon, better known as "Chuck," died peacefully in his home on October 20, 2020, just after a record breaking early snow storm in Minneapolis. He was born on January 3, 1957. He was 63 years old. 

During the final months of his life he was supported by family and friends, near and far, old and new (and of course, the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup) who brought him joy, laughter, support and solace. 

Chuck was a magnetic man who was both gentle and spirited. He brought compassion and humor to every encounter, especially at Pathways: A Healing Center, where he was the unofficial ambassador. He had a way of making new participants and providers feel welcome and safe. 

Chuck graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis in 1975, where he was an outstanding athlete in track and field in both the 400 yard race and the relay. He played football, softball, and loved to waterski. He served in the US Army in the late 70's and early 80's in Germany and was honorably discharged. He graduated with an associates degree in business administration from the Minnesota School of Business. He worked at both Advanced Circuits and Reliance Motion Control in Eden Prairie where he built lasting friendships. He was a huge hockey fan and especially of the North Stars. Thanks to a dear friend, he got a visit from three of the former players in his last month of life.  

Waywaaziibboonsin, Chuck's Indian name, means Glistening Winter Stones Along the River Bank. He was of Ojibwa/Odawa (Anishinaabe) and European descent and a proud member  of the Sault St. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Blanchard and Luc LeBon and by his dear Uncle, Eric LeBon. 

Chuck leaves a hole in the lives of so many who loved him including his family: 

Carol LeBon, his stepmother, of Waite Park, MN; 

Sister Christine LeBon and Doug Grapple of Goleta, CA; 

Patty LeBon Herb and Guntram Herb of Middlebury, VT and their adult children, Henrik of Fremont, California and Natalie of Berlin, Germany;

and Laurie LeBon, his former wife and forever friend of Minneapolis. 

His extended family: 

Maternal side: Bob and Sandy Blanchard, aunt and uncle with their children Rob, Casey and Annie Blanchard.

Paternal side: 

Aunts and Uncles in Belgium: Lieva, Aline, Marc LeBon; Patrick LeBon and Suzanne Weynants.

Cousins in Belgium: Helga S'Jongers and her daughter Manon Rosseel; Katrin S'Jongers; Anne S'Jongers and Patrick Spegelaere and their son Shen Spegelaere; Muriel LeBon and Dimitrios Lionakis and their son Lucianos Lionakis; Stefanie LeBon and Carlos Salvador and their son Naël Salvador-LeBon; and Robin LeBon.

Chuck delighted his healthcare providers and made a huge impact on his friends, who are too many to list. His spirit and love traveled with each and every one of us, around the halls of Pathways: A Healing Center, through the countryside of Belgium, on the various sports fields, rinks, golf courses and around his beloved Minneapolis lakes. He (and his Dodge Dakotah) will always be remembered.  

One of his friends summed him up so well, "He made it easy to be his friend," which was so true. 

Chuck connected so deeply with others. As he often said, “Without you, there’s no me," and he meant and modeled that so beautifully. He was an expert at connection.
